Iowa State’s Cantamus has been invited to present solo performances at the 2013 National Conference of the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), a biennial event that will be held in Dallas, Texas March 13-16, 2013. Performances will occur in the renowned Meyerson Symphony Hall and the Winspear Opera House.
Being selected to perform at a national conference of the ACDA is regarded as the pinnacle achievement for an American choir. A national committee of collegiate choral conductors reviewed Cantamus’ recent recordings and proposed repertoire, amongst approximately 250 applicants, and then selected them for performance slots on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. Cantamus is the only collegiate women’s choir selected to give a solo performance at the conference.
The choir is expected sing for roughly 3,000 conductors and choral enthusiasts from across the country and around the world. The group is very proud of its accomplishments and is eager to give these performances. Cantamus will be in good company, as they will share the national stage with several outstanding national and international choirs. Convention details can be found on the ACDA website: www.acda.org
While traveling to Dallas, Cantamus will sing its convention program at First United Methodist Church, Pittsburg, KS on Wednesday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m.
Cantamus’ “Bon Voyage Concert” will be held Sunday, March 10, 3:00 p.m., in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall. Kathleen Rodde is the choir’s conductor.
