Musica Antiqua recently performed in honor of the showing of Mario Venturi's latest art work, a three dimensional medieval miniature of the Battle of Montaperti. Unveiled in the beautiful home of Des Moines art collector, Harry Bookey, who commissioned the work, this spectacular diorama has already won a gold medal at the Chicago Show for Historical Miniatures.

The diorama depicts an interpretation of a focal point in the 1260 battle between Florentine forces and the Sienese.
Guests at the unveiling reception marveled at the exquisite detailing of the figures. This work was two and a half years in the research and construction.
Musica Antiqua prepared a program of music appropriate to the occasion.
